Auto Accident Lawyer

With so many vehicles on the roads, it is easy to see why car accidents are everyday hazards for many people. Most car accidents are completely avoidable and preventable. There are some that aren’t but for the most part, most accidents are caused by someone’s negligence and disregard for safety.

If you have been seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that was caused by someone else’s disregard for safety, then you may be entitled to compensation. Since you have a one-in-five chance of getting into an accident it is helpful to know the types of accidents that can happen, in hopes that you can avoid them.

Rear-End Collisions

This is one of the most common types of accidents out there. This is often the result of a driver failing to pay attention to the road or following too closely. When there isn’t enough space maintained then the rear diver may lack the time and space to break and avoid a collision. There are many reasons for how a rear-end collision happen, and some of the most common are drowsy driving, impaired driving, and driving while distracted.

Injuries in rear-end collisions run the gamut from minor to severe. At low speeds rear-end accident victims can develop serious injuries like broken bones, neck injuries, and damage to the spinal cord.

Head-On Collisions

These types of collisions are among the most dangerous kinds of crashes. Even if they aren’t the most common, they are the most dangerous due to how they happen. Both vehicles are moving towards each other and because of that the force of impact is magnified. As a consequence, these collisions often result in severe injuries or even death.

Some of the common reasons these collisions happen are distracted driving, driving while impaired, driver fatigue, speeding, and reckless driving. The injuries from this type of collision can range from traumatic brain injuries to internal organ damage.

Side-Impact Collisions

This type of collision is done when one vehicle strikes another at a perpendicular angle. It is most often known as a T-bone. Side-impacts are dangerous because the sides of a vehicle often have less mass to absorb the impact of a collision than the front and rear do.

Some of the common reasons that these impacts are caused are because other drivers fail to yield, failure to stop at an intersection or disregard traffic signs and signals. The injuries can range from minor to severe depending on where the occupants are in the vehicle and the speed at which it happens. Some common injuries include broken bones, bruising, whiplash, and damage to the spine.

Car accidents are no laughing matter and often can make life-altering changes.
