I generally advise all my clients not to talk to the insurance company at all. There might be a time and place for a client to speak with them, but I usually do not allow my clients to give any statements, no matter what the insurance company says. I prefer to handle everything through litigation and work with defense counsel to get the issues on record. This is especially important when it comes to injuries—what may seem like a minor injury at first could turn out to be catastrophic later. By not allowing my clients to speak directly with the insurance company, I can better protect their interests and ensure that everything is properly handled in a legal setting. I would definitely call an attorney to help better understand what to do next after an accident.
